The Mission of the Division of Biomedical Informatics at the University of Kentucky is to improve human health by translating data into knowledge.

We fulfill this mission through the development of research, training, UK HealthCare (UKHC) informatics integration and community engagement programs spanning areas such as translational bioinformatics, clinical informatics, research informatics, and public health informatics. A core group of problem-solving faculty leaders will be developed to address the ever-changing and mission-critical data science challenges facing the UKHC clinical enterprise. Through the Institute of Biomedical Informatics these faculty members will engage the entire UK campus in developing and growing informatics and data science training programs, shared research infrastructure and data governance, technology innovation, and a culture of team science, resource sharing and knowledge dissemination.
