Computational approaches that mine large amounts of free text to extract relational information and support applications such as information retrieval and literature based discovery, have gained popularity recently. Most of these tend to focus on specific areas in biomedicine, for example gene-gene interactions or disease-treatment relations.

The University of Kentucky Center for Clinical and Translational Science (CCTS) is now accepting CCTS Pilot Applications for 2013. The letter of intent deadline will be Feb. 18, with the committee decision for full application request set on March 18. Application receipt deadlines for all awards will be April 22, with funding decisions announced by May 27.
